Type of school 2 year college-(De Anza College, SJ City College) 4 year public college/university-Usually more affordable than some private schools (UC Merced, San Jose State University). 4 year private college/university-Some offer generous financial aid packages (Stanford University, Grinnell College).

  3. School size Small college/university If you enjoy personal attention from teachers and advisers, then a small college may be just what you need. Some students find that a smaller setting is a better fit. These schools typically have 2000 students or less Here are some of the benefits associated with small colleges: Small class sizes Strong advising system; advisers know students well Professors, not teaching assistants, teach most courses Opportunity to get to know professors well AMHERST COLLEGE, CLAREMONT McKENNA COLLEGE

  4. School size Medium/Lager college/university Are you itching to break free of the high school fishbowl and enjoy the anonymity that comes with being one of thousands of students? Then a big college might be a good fit for you. These schools typically have 5,000 to 25,000 students Here are some of the benefits associated with big colleges: Wide variety of majors and courses Well-funded sports programs Wide range of academic choices and student activities State-of-the-art research facilities UC Berkeley, Stanford University
