What is Brightspace? • Learning Resource Management system - LRM • Single place teachers, students and families can go to find out about BSD curriculum • Why now? • We needed to move from Global Scholar to a new platform and Brightspace was the best choice. • Who can access? • Only BSD teachers and students. • Parents need to access the site using their child’s username and password
How to access the site • Go to www.BSD405.org and look at the top of any page to see quick links to the popular sites.
The username is the student's network login of s- and the student's last name and first initial. • For example, Jane Doe would use: s-doej John Doe would use: s-doejo • If you do not know your Username- Contact your office manager or classroom teacher. • At the Secondary level, the passwordis whatever the student has chosen to be their password. • At the Elementary Level, the password is s# and the student's ID. For example, s#123456
What is there? • School information • Course information • Calendar • Dropbox • Tasks • News feeds • Discussion boards
Course Information • Course Syllabus and Overview are posted on Brightspace • The district curriculum is on Brightspace
Newsfeed Check my newsfeed often to find: • Class Updates • Assignments • Handouts • Online book information • Upcoming events
Calendar • Events are posted on the Brightspace Calendar • If your student is absent please check the calendar to get homework that was assigned • You can export this calendar to Outlook or Gmail.
Tasks • Each day students are provided with a list of tasks to add to Brightspace • This is a way we are helping students to stay organized • When they finish the task they can check it off
Discussions • We will occasionally be participating in course discussions • Students will sometimes do this in class and other times have to do it at home • They may also be asked to respond to a discussion
