George Washington, born on February 22, 1732, in Pope's Creek, Virginia, was the first President of the United States and served without a political party. He had a large family with two sisters, three brothers, and two half-brothers, and enjoyed playing in the woods during his childhood. Despite having no college education, he married Martha Custis on January 6, 1759, but they had no children or pets. Washington faced the British in his quest for independence alongside Vice President John Adams.
