Melbourne 2030Activity Centres and Structure Plans • Melbourne 2030 will induce an additional $5.8 billion in GDP and generate an extra 82,000 jobs, compared to letting Melbourne follow a ‘business as usual’ growth pattern. • The value added benefit associated with the movement to Melbourne 2030 equates to a 2.8% lift in current GDP levels • Achievement of Melbourne 2030 will yield additional tax revenues of between $1.5 billion and $2.0 billion per year

Melbourne 2030Activity Centres and Structure Plans • Melbourne 2030 specifies 119 Activity Centres across the metropolitan area, in 4 main categories. • 1 x Central Activities District (Melbourne CBD); • 26 x Principal Activity Centres (Box Hill, Footscray etc.); • 82 x Major Activity Centres (Bridge Rd, Smith St etc.); and • 10 x Specialised Activity Centres (Melbourne Airport, Parkville Medical and Bioscience Precinct etc.) • Local Councils must develop structure plans for all Principal and Major Activity Centres. • In addition there are more than 900 Neighbourhood centres for structure plans are optional.

Melbourne 2030Activity Centres and Structure Plans Funding for Structure Plans is made available though the Local Government Assistance FundBase GrantsTargeted Grants In 2003/04 targeted grants were provided for 16 structure planning projects across 21 activity centres worth $2.5 million. The majority of these went to Principal Centres Structure planning for 9 centres is also funded through the Transit Cities program.
