  1. 8 Important Aspects of a Successfully Remodeled Bathroom

  2. There are many different ways in which a bathroom can be remodeled to make it more stylish, functional and modern, and below are 8 of the most important aspects of a remodeled bathroom that you should consider in great detail before hiring anyone to get the project underway: 1. Vanities With so many options available, the average homeowner is spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a new vanity for their remodeled bathroom. For smaller bathrooms, vanities housing a single sink will work better, and you can find them as narrow as 12 inches. For bigger bathrooms, consider a double-sink vanity, or opt for a custom made vanity in whatever size, shape and color you want.

  3. 2. Mirrors and medicine cabinets A mirror, when mounted in the right place, can help create the illusion of space in a smaller bathroom, and many homeowners opt for floor to ceiling mirrors for the ultimate space giving effect. Medicine cabinets come in a wide array of shapes and sizes, and some have electrical outlets or light fixtures (or both) built into the unit. They can be flush mounted or recessed, and naturally, the color should complement the décor of the room.

  4. 3. Faucets and showers Whether you want standard faucets and shower bodies, traditional ones, or sleek and modern, there are so many choices that finding the right ones for your bathroom, shouldn’t be difficult. Do note, however, that your faucets and shower body’s should match, and its best to buy them as a matching set. You can also add hand held sprays, volume controls, diverters, temperature control valves and body sprays.

  5. 4. Lighting fixtures With the possibility of creating a bold statement in a bathroom, the lighting fixtures you choose are very important, not least because most folks want different types of lighting for different occasions. For example, a relaxing soak in the tub may call for dim, soft lighting, while a brighter, clearer light will be needed for applying makeup and styling hair. From wall sconces and low voltage strip lighting under the vanity, to flush mount ceiling lights and high hats, be sure to factor in all lighting elements of the project before work gets underway.

  6. 5. The bathtub With most tubs made from cast iron with enamel finishes or fiberglass, you can choose the size of tub you want, along with whether it should be freestanding or abutting a wall. Your final decision may be dependent upon the amount of space available in the bathroom, and while a freestanding tub is a luxurious feature of a modern bathroom, you don’t want it to encroach too much on the rest of the space.

  7. 6. Sinks and toilet Toilets can also be wall mounted or freestanding, but the plumbing may dictate where the toilet goes, and of course, the sink (or double sink) will need to be close by. Think carefully about the dimensions of your bathroom, and do your best to ensure that there’s enough floor space alongside the amenities. 7. Countertops Typically made from stone, granite or marble due to their resilience to water, countertops are just as important a feature of your newly remodeled bathroom as anything else, and will require careful consideration.

  8. 8. Tiles Choose from marble, granite, ceramic, glass, slate or tumbled stone tiles for your bathroom, and when choosing, think not just about how they will look, but how they will feel. Textures are important in such a space as a bathroom, and your chosen general contractor can talk you through your options. A bathroom is about so much more than just a sink, toilet, tub and shower, and for creating a luxurious but functional space, be sure to consider all of your options carefully, for every single aspect of the room.
