This document presents various examples demonstrating the use of the Mark-Recapture method for estimating wildlife population sizes. We analyze data from multiple species, including pheasants, elephants, Japanese beetles, dolphins, and tigers. Each example provides the initial number of individuals caught, marked, and released, followed by the number caught in a second session, specifying how many of those had markings. These data sets allow us to apply statistical techniques to estimate the total population sizes of these species based on the observed recapture rates.

Example 1 • 21 pheasant were caught, marked, and released. • 23 were caught a second time, 5 of which had a marking • Estimate the population size.
Example 2 • 15 elephants were caught, marked, and released. • 8 were caught a second time, 7 of which had a marking. • Estimate the population size.
Example 3 • 162 Japanese Beetles were caught, marked, and released. • 148 were caught a second time, 59 of which had a marking. • Estimate the population size.
Example 4 • 11 dolphins were caught, marked, and released. • 7 were caught a second time, 2 of which had a marking. • Estimate the population size.
Example 5 • 8 tigers were caught, marked, and released. • 4 were caught a second time, 4 of which had a marking. • Estimate the population size.
