Binge drinking is the practice of consuming huge quantities of alcohol in a single session, usually defined as five or more drinks at one time for a man, or four or more drinks at one time for a woman. About 90% of the alcohol consumed by youth under the age of 21 in the United States is in the form of binge drinks.

  3. Some Facts About Binge Drinking 1. One in six US adults binge drinks about four times a month, consuming about eight drinks per binge. 2. Binge drinking is most common among younger adults aged 18–34 years, but is reported across the lifespan. 3. The prevalence of binge drinking among men is twice the prevalence among women. 4. Binge drinking is more common among people with household incomes of $75,000 or more than among people with lower incomes. However, people with lower incomes binge drink more often and consume more drinks when they do. 5. Over 90% of U.S. adults who drink excessively report binge drinking in the past 30 days. 6. Most people younger than age 21 who drink report binge drinking, usually on multiple occasions.

Restricting access to alcohol by maintaining limits on the days and hours of alcohol retail sales. 4. Strict legal action against binge drinkers and the one who promotes such activities. 5. Maintaining government controls on alcohol sales (avoiding privatization). 6. Screening and counselling for alcohol misuse.
