  3. EPS2 • Quicker • Safer • Less administrative process – scripts and submissions • Auditable • eTracker • Increases direct communication with patient and pharmacy regarding changes to repeats • Makes repeat dispensing workable & efficient • Greener

  4. EPS2 - Smartcards • Need to use smartcards • Need to make sure that PDS details are synchronised for patients on GP system • Tidy up repeat lists - same amounts and same interval and review dates – all helps • Think about repeat dispensing option – new protocol available on CCG website

  5. EPS2 – Nominated Pharmacies • Nominated primary choice • Appliance Contractors • EPS button when using smartcard • Pick list of available pharmacies by distance from patients address • Monitor – new patients and unlikely options

  6. EPS2 – non DMD medications • DMD options – look for DMD icon • Split scripts – print out non DMD • Controlled Drugs non EPS • list of common ones on website • Cavilon, fortisip/forticrème, generic emollients, paracetamolcapsules,fybogel • Watch for DAC button

  7. EPS2 - preparation • All prescribers use smartcards • Register known nominated pharmacies on your system – office and clinical staff • Start collecting nominated pharmacies by: • Opportunistically with requests • Posters, leaflets, website, social media • Right hand side of scripts • New registrations • Consultations – slip of paper • After two months - search all repeats (emis)

  8. EPS2 Preparation • Opportunistic change of non DMD drugs • Run search for non DMD medication and make as administrative task using protocol • Increase online prescribing requests • Information from EPS website and within GP software ‘help’ • CCG website
