  8. Socitm Scotland Region David Cameron: Public sector reform cannot be delayed Mr Cameron said he wanted complete modernisation of Britain's public services to be one of the coalition's greatest achievements. "we can't afford not to modernise" "pretending that there is some easy option, of sticking with the status quo and hoping that a little bit of extra money will smooth over the challenges, is a complete fiction" www.socitm.net © Socitm Ltd

  9. Socitm Scotland Region Scotland’s police and fire services are to be streamlined and could become single forces “there was a “compelling case” for a single fire and rescue service and a “strong case” for one police force covering the whole country” “It was no longer tenable to have eight police forces and eight fire and rescue services” “In a single force model, the savings can be significant and that is necessary in these financial times” “Maintaining the current set-up was not an option” www.socitm.net © Socitm Ltd

  10. Socitm Scotland Region Eight Scottish councils work on plans to share services Between them, the eight councils have a budget of about £6.5bn a year and employ 76,000 people. Their area is home to 1.75 million people - more than a third of Scotland's population. It is hoped that savings of between 10% and 20% could be found www.socitm.net © Socitm Ltd
