  2. Some Background He lived from 1548-1600 He was born in Nola, Italy, which was near Naples His real name is Filippo, the name Giordano was used after he joined the Dominican Order He was schooled in Aristotelian philosophy

  3. Why his is important He devised new ways to improve memory He was a philosopher who believed that the Earth was not the center of the universe and that the Earth was extremely small in importance when compared to the greater, infinite universe He traveled across Europe to spread his ideas He also spoke out against the church and was burned at the stake for it

  4. His Death After traveling across Europe, he was lured back to Italy in a ruse led by the Church They handed him over to the inquisition, who promptly burned him at the stake
