  11. In Joana’s own words . . . • My father is a custodian at Everett Elementary School. He works full time as a year-round custodian. My mother works at McDonald's and has worked there for almost 13 years. • Growing up in Mexico, my parents didn't get to go to high school as my mom only got to finish middle school and my father finished most of elementary school. Soon, I will get to be the first to graduate from high school and attend college. • I would like to make my parent’s dream of me graduating from both high school and college happen. I would like to make them proud because of what they have done for us to make a better life than what they had.

  12. Joanna continues . . . • Taking advanced Math classes and ITE classes like Introduction to Engineering and Design (CAD IED 1 and 2), Advanced Civil Engineering and Architecture (Adv CAD CEA), Foundations of Industrial Technology, and Furniture Construction, I have been inspired to be an Engineer. • Each one of us has our own strengths and talents; mine would be Math and Art. I hope to use my Math and creativity in the future for a possible career in Engineering. I have been admitted to the UNL College of Engineering and will begin in the fall of 2011. • We plan to follow Joana and 50 or more other LPS grads that are attending UNL college of engineering and Architecture.
