  2. Small school setting • Students develop confidence, knowledge, and skills. • All learners are empowered and supported through *Critical thinking *Artistic development *Community building

  3. Principles for the Development of a Complete Mind: • Study the science of art. Study the art of science. • Develop your senses – especially learn how to see. • Realize that everything connects to everything else.

  4. Rigorous course of study • Science- Formal Lab Reports • LA/SS- Persuasive and expository essays • 40-60 minutes outside of class non-fiction/fictional reading • Project-based learning in all content areas • Use of technology in all content areas • Individual and group presentations required in all subjects

  5. Field trips • Experience authentic art in the community • Continue opportunities that expand the walls of the classroom • Connect classroom learning and the world • Make connections with professionals • Funded by an active PTSA

  6. Building A Safe Community • Inclusion(sense of belonging) • Influence (shared leadership/purpose) • Community (working together creatively) • Competence (individual purpose and development)

  7. Students known by all teachers • Opportunities for individualized instruction • Develop relationships conducive to inquiry and discussion • Guilds

Guilds Purpose: To develop relationships and the skills to deal with school and real world challenges and to create a positive school climate. • Mixed-age grouping and social skills • Health and study skills • Leadership and decision making • Known and acknowledged as individuals • Develop personal responsibility • Goal Setting • Celebrations and FUN

  9. Pull-out Resource Program • Students with IEP’s leave the general education classroom for the resource room for their service minutes. • Typically, this occurs during the fine and per-forming arts classes, but may also occur during other classes as well.

  10. Contributing to Community • School Yearbook • Theater & Dance Productions • City Hall Artwork • Workshops with community member advisors • “Thrill the World” Participation • Elementary School Performances • Student Art Displays in Community • Community Out Reach

What makes Renaissance School unique? • Small school setting • Students known by all teachers • Access to EHS facilities (theater, athletic facilities, library, cafeteria) • Opportunities for individualized instruction • Rigorous course of study; all students expected to perform at or above standard • Fine and Performing Arts

Math Program Math Progression from Renaissance 8th CMP (Algebra) Geometry (9th grade) Advanced Algebra (10 grade) Algebra 3/Trigonometry Math Analysis or Calculus or Calculus/AP Calculus Students can take AP Calculus AB as juniors and AP Calculus BC as seniors. There is also the option of taking AP Statistics.

Considerations/Commitments • Transportation – responsibility of family • Arts – throughout curriculum • Music/Sports – after school in attendance area • Extended Fieldtrips – occasional extra costs • Math Sequence – 6th CMP, 7th CMP, 8th CMP • Small School– everyone knows one another well • Parent Contribution Fee – $225 • Volunteer hours – 25 hours per family • IEP Service Minutes – Pull-out model • Is Renaissance the Right Choice for My Child?
