Energy conservation • Energy efficiency is extremely important In home and building design. Many steps can be taken to contribute to energy savings.
Step 1 • Keep electrical outlets and panels to a minimum on exterior walls. This prevents compromising the insulating value of the wall
Step 2 • Fans or anything else exhausting air from the building should be provided with a back draft or dampers to limit air leaking
Step 3 • Timed switches or humidistats should be installed on exhaust fans to prevent unnecessary operation
Step 4 • Wires in exterior walls should be run along the bottom on the studs at the bottom plate. Cut a “V” groove into the stud bottoms as they are delivered to prepare
Step 5 • Select energy-efficient appliances
Step 6 • Use fluorescent lights, which save energy
Step 7 • Fully insulate above and around recessed light fixtures
Step 8 • Caulk and seal around all light and convenience outlets
Step 9 • Used recessed lights that are IC (Insulation Cover) rated, which allow you to insulate around and over the light
