  3. The Squire • He is the knight’s son • He is a lover and cadet • He is very passionate • He sings or flutes(plays the flute) all day • He can read and write • Known for agility and strength • He is “fresh as the month of May”

  4. The Yeoman • He is the squire’s servant • He wore and coat and hood of green, with peacock feathers • He was a carpenter • He wore a mighty bow (archery bow) • He wore a medal of St. Christopher (patron saint of travelers) • He was a “proper forester”

  5. The Prioress – Madam Eglantyne • Has fancy style – mostly when she spoke • She was very entertaining • Friendly • She is charitable (giving) • Gray eyes • She speaks french well • She was polite

  6. The Monk • Hunting was his sport • He was old and strict and ignored people • He was a “manly man” • Travelled throughout the country (England) • Fat and personable priest

  7. The Friar • He is a family man and wants to marry off his daughters • Gave money freely • Licensed from the Pope • Spoke well • “Romped like a puppy”

  8. The Merchant • He had a forking beard • Spoke his mind and opinions to everybody • He did a lot of bargaining and loaning • He is smart (witty)

  9. The Oxford Cleric • He was a student • He only cared about studying • He was a philsopher • He took money that his friends gave him and spent it all on books • He’s really quiet and respectful • Never said more than what he needed to say • He was an alchemist

  10. The Serjeant at Law • He was discreet • He faked being smart and became successful • He wore multi-colored clothes • Spoke with “wise” sayings • He reports to the king • He knew every criminal case

  11. Franklin • He sold bread and wine • Kind and gracious • Lived for pleasure and kept a party house • Has a white beard

  12. Haberdasher, Dyer, Weaver, Carpenter, and Carpetmaker • Everything they had looked like new • They were all of the same guild • They respected their wives • They were trim and fresh • Worthy citizens
