  3. Plastic Extrusion Process The process begins by pouring plastic material (such as pellets, granules, flakes, or powder) from the hopper into the barrel of the extruder. The material is melted by mechanical energy generated by heaters arranged along the barrel by slowly rotating it. The molten plastic then solidifies into a die, which hardens as it cools. and takes the form of plastic. Through an extrusion process in plastic raw material processing, the raw thermoplastic material is brought into a barrel from a hopper (top-mounted), which is a part of the Plastic Extruder. The raw material is in the form of small beads and is commonly called resin in industrial terms. Before the material reaches the hopper, it can be mixed with various additives such as colorants and UV inhibitors (in tablet or liquid form). The feed throat is an opening in the back of the barrel. • The rotating screw, which is typically 120 rpm (max), forces the plastic beads to move forward in the barrel. At this time, the barrel is heated to the required temperature of the molten plastic. This temperature can be within the range of 200 °C (392 °F) to 275 °C (527 °F), depending on how the plastic is extruded. 2 • In most plastic extrusion processes, a specific heating profile is set for the barrel.
