  5. Marina Regatta 2012 Purpose of Safety Boats (basic requirements): To provide the additional “eyes” for safety on the water where visibility is poorer from land. To be used as a mobile communication system to relay information to the participants in the water To provide a demarcated boundary for the dragon boats to paddle in To assist the movement of existing river cruises in the marina bay In an event of a capsize, the safety boat would provide assistance and guidance for the participants in the water. If need to, the safety boat will also be used to ferry participants who fell overboard back to shore. There will be a minimum of 6 boats in the water at any time during the race
