  20. Sun in Chip driven commerce • Pervasive networking is a promising area for creation of environment awarepersonalized wired and wireless services. • The large penetration, capability increase and miniaturizing of mobile networks and devices enable the creation of cheap pervasive services, huge business potential exists! • Next generation value nets will be built on physical sub-nets and smart personal spaces. (E.g. local mobile commerce, smart communication, p2p interactions & consumer-initiated content creation, sharing of services/content, virtual value communities) Support infrastructure for pervasive services: • Flexibility in network programmability • Multi-channel, multi-zoned service offering • Advanced resource and profile management • Easily adaptable, self-configurable services

  24. What is Identity Management? • Identity provisioning and repositories • Authentication and Access Authorization • Federation

  25. CentralProvider Provider Provider Provider Provider Provider Provider Why a Federated Model of Identity Management? Liberty Alliance model Centralized Model • Identity and user information in single repository • Centralized control • Single point of failure • Links similar systems Open Federated Model • Identity and user information in various locations • No centralized control • No single point of failure • Links similar and disparate systems

  26. Identity Summary • Federated Identity enables operators to derive new sources of revenue from: • Their Identity Management infrastructure: (HLR/VLR, HSS, and other user repositories • Unique functions in their network infrastructure: location, presence, SMS, MMS) • Federated Identity simplifies the user experience and brings compelling new services resulting in customer loyalty

  33. OpenSDP: Sun and jNetX CDMA Broadband GSM NGN Changing Network Infrastructure IMS PSTN Faster and lower cost deployment of telecom services. Eliminates “Vendor Lock-in” Enables new and unique types of telecom services. Provides fixed-to-mobile and circuit-to-packet service convergence. Provides graceful migration to IMS capabilities in today’s 2/2.5G networks. Applications Location Services Presence Services Voice Services Messaging Services Media Streaming Services Charging Services

  34. jNETx Ecosystem Services Pg 1 Service Description Number Translation (Premium and Free Phone) Performs number lookup and analysis for number translation to destination address. A key component of VPN, Free Phone, and Premium Number applications. Mobile Instant Messaging Allows users to communicate via instant messaging using mobile handsets. Video Telephony Video controller for packet networks. SMS Relay Intercepts SMS messages before they are routed to the SMSC. If the receiver is available, the message will be sent immediately via the OCFS exclusively. If the receiver is not available the message will be sent to the SMSC for future delivery. This helps save capacity and license costs on the SMSC. SMSC and MMSC Gateway A gateway for 3rd party application providers. It provides a programmable environment to control the MMSC/SMSC and to integrate to other elements such charging. Video telephony gateway for PC and mailbox Video controller for packet networks Streaming video and audio – clips and live feeds Video controller for packet networks Video mailbox Control of media server with the mail box being controlled by jNETx MM3 Engine Games download Controls download and can manage real-time charging. Find and Seek Presence and location service for gaming or locating friends… Personal Identity Manager Separate identity server synchronized with RA or IMDB Fixed/Mobile Convergent Prepaid Convergent voice and data, post and prepaid charging system. Uses jNETx Hypercube Rating Engine. Prepaid SCP Front-end Integrated with 3rd party rating engines providing charging orchestration and SCP functionality for announcements, balance check, call control, location, etc Voice VPN Offers a template for specific customer VPN.

  35. jNETx Ecosystem Services Pg 2 International Voice VPN (iVPN) Designed primarily for corporate customers. iVPN allows corporate users to roam while still using short codes of home network. Wireless PABX An extension of VPN. Includes features such as call forwarding, call barring, supervised/blind transfer, calendar integration, etc. (Embedded voice recognition can also be provided.) Ring tones Interoperates with a J2EE content server to provide charging and other possible network and IT integration points Music download Interoperates with a J2EE content server to provide charging and other possible network and IT integration points Browsing Interoperates with a web server and possible probes to provide charging and other possible network and IT integration points Personalized Ringback Tones (PRBT) (fixed and mobile) The application is aware of all the call events, and intercepts the ringing phase to play a specific track instead of the standard network ring back tone. The specific track (ringback tone) is chosen by the subscriber. Push to Talk Allows walkie talkie type of services on a mobile phone. Real-time games The OCFS can be used as a gaming infrastructure, or through proprietary RAs, gaming systems can access OCFS capabilities for charging, calls, locations, etc... Unified Messaging (UM) Integrated messaging platform based on a combination of fault tolerant POP store and forward and relay services. The UM platform can include text to voice and voice to text conversions, multimedia control over media servers, emails, sms, etc... Vehicle track A location services for tracking truck fleets and taxis. Mobile Payment The OCFS can be used as a mobile payment control system to process payments in batch in during communication/commerce sessions.

  36. jNETx Ecosystem Services Pg 3 Self-care USSD (USSD Gateway) Management of customer care information automated using USSD. USSD Call Back When a user is prepaid roaming and there is no CAMEL on the visited network, he can dial a USSD string over MAP to the home network, then the switch initiates the call to user and the number he dialed initially. Off-net indication The caller is notified when he has dialed a number that does not belong to the home network. Follow me Follow-Me personal numbers allow subscribers to be contacted on one telephone number, which could be for personal use, business use, or a combination. When called on any registered telephone numbers, the system re-routes these calls to the number of preference at a given time (self administered) or a hunt group of these numbers or simultaneous calling of all (combo of) numbers at once. Teleblock Allows subscriber to register his number in a black-list database to block unwanted calls e.g. telemarketing calls Call Barring and Screening Self-administered barring and screening of incoming calls based on location and time. Empty Call Capture Support of a number of scenarios to patch missed calls and increase traffic Roaming Rerouting When people are in visitor’s network, maybe the MSC doesn’t support CLI, which will prevent the voicemail from working. This is needed for voicemail servers or IVR (which uses the CLI); OCFS asks the MSC to include the CLI in the connect message. OCFS in home network, instead of routing call to IVR, will ask the MSC to route the call through the gateway MSC of the home network. Home MSC says route the call to me (home network), goes through gateway, and establishes CLI. Basically the application allows the call to be routed back to the home MSC before routing it to the voicemail. National and CAP Roaming If full national coverage is not supported by an operator, this service allows for inter-operator roaming in-country to simulate full coverage Intelligent Call Routing DTMF external that allows a service inside network to perform carrier selection and then the end user. Depending on commission, time of day, or preset factors, the number is routed to another number (e.g. customer care number (800#), can be mixed with location, etc.). This application provides the option to select international/national interconnect partners depending on where the subscriber is calling to for optimized pricing. Multimedia Call Center Advanced call center integrating voice, data, presence and multimedia functionality. It is programmable to meet the sophisticated needs of corporate call centers.
