  5. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) GRE is a computer-adaptive test.   7. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Subject Test: • GRE offers 8 subject tests, each of which measures achievements in specific fields. Some universities request a subject test. This can only be done on paper. Please contact GRE for details of the nearest test centre. • Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology • Biology • Chemistry • Computer Science • Literature in English • Mathematics • Physics • Psychology

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) • The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) measures verbal, quantitative and analytical writing skills. • Used by graduate schools of business to assess the qualifications of applicants to graduate management programmes. • Available only as a computer-adaptive test.

  13. Fulbright All Discipline Student Awards • 6 – 12 months of post-graduate study or research in the US in all disciplines • Awards worth maximum $20,000 plus insurance, J-1 visa and programming

Fulbright • Fulbright Awards for specific subject areas including: • Environmental Protection Agency Award in Water, Climate Change and Sustainable Environment • Enterprise Ireland Award in Innovation • Marine Institute Award in any science/business related topic for PhD research only • Notre Dame LLM in International Human Rights Law (50% tuition waiver) • Teagasc Award in Agricuture, Food and Forestry

  15. UCC Fulbright Recipient 2012/2013 • Niamh Daly is a PhD candidate in the Archaeology Department at UCC. Niamh will investigate female kinship ties in early medieval non-ecclesiastical populations from Ireland using archaeological bone chemistry in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change at Arizona State University.

  16. UCC Fulbright Recipient 2012/2013 • Niamh O'Mahony is a PhD candidate in English at UCC. Niamh will pursue research on avant-garde poetry and literary criticism at Miami University, Ohio.

  17. Closing Dates • The 2013/14 competition is open to applicants from 24th August 2012 - 15:00 Wednesday 14th November 2012 • Successful applicants will be eligible to study/research in the US between August 2013 - August 2014.

Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistantship Awards • FLTA Programme for Irish language teaching assistants at US colleges and universities.  • Successful candidates are required to have formal academic qualifications / training and / or professional experience in the teaching of the Irish language.

Main objectives: • to encourage the most able students in the NUI federal system to pursue research • to enable these students to undertake postgraduate research abroad towards a doctoral degree • to attract these scholars back eventually to enrich the learning community within NUI
