Concluding Remarks • Comments by FAIR Management • Review of PBAR at CERN and FNAL • Requirements of Experiments at FAIR • PANDA • FLAIR • AIC • PAX • PBAR Production at FAIR PBAR@FAIR
Project Staging • Old idea: Staging of the project • (three stages defined by optimizing start of science) • New idea: Staging of the project • ( two phases defined/matched with assured funding level ) • Phase A = start-version • ( stage defined/matched with funding level by October 2007) • Phase B = all that‘s left out in Phase A • ( full project as defined by Annex of FAIR Convention ) PBAR@FAIR
The STI recognized that there will be some limitations on the beams available to the various projects in Phase A but felt that they were acceptable in the circumstances. Even with this reduction it is a world class facility. PBAR@FAIR
Start Version launched 7. Nov. 2007 PBAR@FAIR
Multipurpose Facility FAIR • Beam Intensity: • - primary heavy-ion beam intensity increases by x 100 – x 1000 • - secondary beam intensity increases by up to x 10000 • Beam Energy: • - heavy-ion energy : x 30 • Beam Variety: • - antiprotons • - protons to uranium & radioactive ion beams • Beam Precision: • - cooled antiproton beams • - intense cooled radioactive ion beams • BeamPulse structure: • - optimized for experiments: from dc to 50 ns • Parallel Operation: • - full accelerator performance for up to four different and • independent experiments and experimental programs PBAR@FAIR
