  2. 30 Second Pitch As an entrepreneur, the 30 second pitch is a short, exciting statement that you prepare to describe your business. It is your answer when someone says, “Tell me about your company!”

  3. Fast Pitch Competition NFTE is looking for the top 3 business pitches from each NFTE class for our Fast Pitch Competition. TO ENTER: 1. Record your 30 second pitch on digital video. 2. Send us the tape or electronic file no later than April 3, 5:00 pm. 3. We will post it on YouTube. 4. A panel of judges will select 3 finalists from the entries. 5. Three finalists will present their pitches before an audience of entrepreneurs on May 12 and win cash prizes.

  4. Building Your Pitch

  5. The 30 Second Pitch must include: • What is your product or service? • What problem does your business solve? • Who needs your product or service? • How are you different from other companies? • Why should your listener care about your company? • Your name and your school’s name

  6. The 30 Second Pitch In 30 seconds, potential investors need to be taken through four phases: • Attention • competing against numerous other distractions, you must capture their attention • Excitement • now that they are paying attention, you need to get them excited about you and your company • Engagement • now that they are excited, enable them to imagine becoming involved with you and your company • Action • the goal of your presentation: get potential investors to spend time with you to learn about your company, your product, and the investment opportunity. Bill Warner, Steve Bayle

  7. The 30 Second Pitch Ex: "How many of you use those flash memory disks? What if your car had a USB port and could play music from them? That's what we're building... (See article, “30 seconds to pitch your company by Steve Bayle, for more) Bill Warner, Steve Bayle

  8. Boring Pitch My name is Lisa Little. I go to New High School. My service is babysitting. I take care of children so parents can go out. Parents need my service. I am different because I bring small prizes for your child. You should care because I have a good service.

  9. What’s Wrong with that Pitch?

  10. What’s Wrong with that Pitch? Lacks creativity! Write a pitch that does more than just answer each question one by one. Lacks excitement! Think about the energy you see on TV commercials or hear in radio commercials. Lacks a link to your customer! How can someone get your product or service?

  11. Better Pitch Parents, think about the last time you had a babysitter. You had just enough time to make it to the movie theatre, but when you tried to leave, baby wouldn’t stop crying. I can help you always make it to your destination on time with my service, Lisa’s Little Wonders. I have 2 years of experience, and my secret is to bring a new, small toy for your child each time I babysit. It brings smiles as you hurry out the door. Parents, you deserve a break! If you live near New High School, plan your next date by calling Lisa Little today.

  12. What was better about that pitch?

  13. What was better about that pitch? Creativity! Lisa does more than just answer each question one by one. Excitement! It sounds more like a commercial and includes examples of why the business is needed by its customers. Credibility! She mentions her experience and how she plans to keep your child’s attention. A link to the customer! You are invited to call Lisa if you are interested in her service.

  14. Good luck creating your pitch!
