Introducing Drupal What is it and why use it? Acronym: CMS: 1. Content Management System ...Drupal CMS is made up out of many easy-to-use components
...Like LEGO, these can be combined in a variety of ways ...Allowing for an endless number of possibilities
Introducing Drupal ... Even though: • the system itself remains Easy-to-use • is Free to download and install (Open Source) • is Continuously updated and improved
Introducing Drupal So what are the pitfalls? • the system is complex = hard to install Meaning? • you will need a host that supports Drupal CMS
SiteGround Hosting Company Offering the following features: ...AND: a free email client and visitor logbook
Legalities Some pitfalls that Confey FC administrators should know about: • Minors in the Gallery section • Forums & Comments – the profane/abusive kind • Site Ownership
The Future of Confey FC Items that might be added in future: • A Forum • Better Profile Page • A Football Blog Need a large active user base before this can be done properly Modules exist that can accomplish this Matter of finding someone to update it
Content Management Maintaining Drupal using non-Drupal items: • Uploading Content: images/*.pdf files etc. Can be done using cPanel (from SiteGround) OR your own computer Filezilla, free from: <http://filezilla-project.org/> Login to website with; USERNAME confeyfc PASSWORD cfc1994 • A Few Words on cPanel (from SiteGround) • Personally I would use it for setting up e-mail and checking the website’s access logs (they count everything – not very accurate). It’s not ideally configured for use with Drupal CMS so be careful using it.
