  2. Who is A GREAT friend OF YOURS and why? • Three paragraphs(Intro, Body, Conclusion) • Double-spaced, indented paragraphs • Proper heading @ top left corner • Title, centered under heading/above Intro

  3. Start with your Introduction THREE SENTENCES: • The 1st sentence is a question, startling fact, or quotation • The 2nd sentence answers or responds to your 1st sentence • The 3rd sentence is your THESIS statement (create it based on the topic – Who is your best friend and why?) Melissa is one of my best friends because she is loyal, caring, and understanding.

  4. Then write your Body @ LEAST SIX SENTENCES: • Reason #1 + specific example (2+ sentences) • Reason #2 + specific example (2+ sentences) • Reason #3 + specific example (2+ sentences)

  5. Finally, your Conclusion THREE SENTENCES: • The 1st sentence restates your Thesis (but maybe in a different way) • The 2nd sentence lists your 3 reasons or an abbreviated version of the examples you stated in the body paragraph • The 3rd sentence wraps up the essay with another question or startling statement that makes the reader think…

  6. When you’re finished • Read your essay (like you’re the teacher!) • Correct any spelling mistakes (if you’re not sure, look it up!) • Correct punctuation and capitalization • Correct grammar (does a sentence sound weird? Fix it!) • Give it to Mrs. Sheets
