  2. Praying to the Lord of the Harvest, LCMS World Mission, in collaboration with its North American and worldwide partners, will share the Good News of Jesus with 100 million unreached or uncommitted people by the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017.

  3. What is a Critical Event/ Faith Sharing Moment? “When one Lutheran Christian gives witness about Jesus of the hope that is within him or her to another person so that person may encounter Christ."

  4. What is at the Heart of Ablaze and Fan into Flame? • Every minute 83 people die in the world not knowing Jesus Christ. • It doesn’t take money to share your personal relationship with Jesus Christ with another person in Nebraska. • It does take money to place a missionary in Africa, Asia, Eurasia, or Latin America.

  5. Fan into Flame undergirds Ablaze! by supporting mission outreach in: • Congregations (Jerusalem) • Districts (Judea) • North America (Samaria) • International Mission fields (Ends of the Earth) • Raise $100 million supporting the overall efforts of the Ablaze! movement 5

Distribution of Funds • 15% net -Participating Congregation Outreach Projects (Jerusalem) • 15% net - District Mission Opportunities (Judea) • 20% net - LCMS World Mission – North America (Samaria) • 50% net - LCMS World Mission – International (Ends of the Earth)A portion of the gifts will go to the mission field in Sudan

  7. What Will Fan into FlameDo? Global mission projects include: A new missionary in Saratov, Russia Rehabilitation of St. Michael Church Russia Taiwan seminary construction India seminary upgrade and building new churches Ghana seminary construction 7

  8. What Has Already Been Accomplished? In North America: Urban church planters have been called to serve in Atlanta, Philadelphia, and New York Ablaze! Covenant Congregations have received funds to plant new churches Ablaze! in God’s Word MP3 “Bible sticks” were distributed at LCMS Youth Gathering 8

Nebraska District Goals • 1 million “Faith Sharing Moments” by 2017 • 1.5 faith sharing moments per communicant member per year for the next nine years • Renew district congregations and schools • Plant new churches and schools • Provide Lutheran school and church worker scholarships • Plant and support ethnic ministries

  10. How Will Fan into Flame Support Congregations? Ideas of Congregational Outreach Projects include: • Community Outreach Programs • Providing assistance at a local mission congregation • Assist in building a new church plant in the area • Recognizing the sanitation workers (or other vocation) in the community with a special dinner in their honor to celebrate Christian vocation. • Fund a Bible club for local children outside of the church community • Evangelism Training through Harvesters For Christ • Mission trip assistance for members • Adult Day Programs including providing a location and service staff for Senior Meals [meals provided by the county] and Senior Game Days • Provide the community with a retelling of the Christmas or Easter story at no charge

  11. How Can Our Congregation Support Ablaze? • RECRUIT – Find a few leaders for your appeal • EDUCATE – Ensure that your members are knowledgeable about Ablaze! and Fan into Flame • INVITE – Ask members to support this local and global effort for God’s mission by making a pledge
