What was happening in the world? • Cultural movement modeled after Classical Antiquity • Classical Antiquity- emphasis on Greece during the time of Homer and the decline of the Roman Empire. • Simplicity and Clean Structure became common themes in literature, architecture, society, and music. • Isaac Newton was nearing the end of his life at the beginning of the Classical Period • His formulas and theories demonstrated the organized ideology and characteristics of Classicism
