Floristic Quality Assessment includes two indices, FQI and Mean C, that measure characteristics of the species assemblage based on the relative abundance of species among the species guilds of ruderal, competitor, & remnant dependents. The latter are species that are modal to, or have high fidelity to, natural areas.
Field Trip Planning 1. Understand objectives of survey 2. Check IDNR database on EORs (Element Occurrence Records) 3. Plan for phenological considerations (species and community) 4. Be prepared according to needs of survey (meter tape, laser range finder, marking tape, forms, floras, collecting bag, digital camera, GPS, hand lens) 5. Record details of observations (date, location, GPS coordinates, photos) 6. Photo-documentation 7. Coordinate visit with locals (permission, local knowledge)
