  1. What are the Common Reasons Behind Layoffs Before knowing the reasons behind layoffs, it is important that one must be clear that there is no fault of the employees or the company in terminating the jobs of the employees. It happens because of external factors that are generally beyond the control of a company. Sapient layoffs happen because of reasons similar to the rest of the companies that have a similar business. Here are some of the most common reasons behind it: - ●A business may decide to cut down its cost of operations because of the business going into losses. Then, layoffs process is being implemented to save other businesses from going into a situation of loss. This means that there will be a reduction in the number of job posts or the headcount in the company. ●Mergers and acquisitions are not in the hands of employees but are common reasons behind layoffs. It will all depend on what the situation is after this amalgamation or acquisition and whether the business is in a position of retaining the employees or not. ●There are times when the business has to be shifted to some other location due to better opportunities. Some of the employees do not want to shift and end up losing their jobs through layoffs. ●Operational changes are also responsible for layoffs. Every few weeks or months there is a change in strategy in almost every business due to the dynamic environment. There might be a change in operation which requires a reduction in the headcount.

  2. ●Outsourcing or offshoring is another common reason behind layoffs. There are times when the employees do not wish to relocate and start a new life in a new place. Thus, people end up losing their jobs because of this. Layoffs are different from firing an employee because firing happens when the employee has made some serious mistake or has violated the laws of the company. This is a grave punishment, and the employee can even find it difficult to look for a new job after firing. However, this is not the case during layoffs, and you will be able to find a job easily after that.
