  1. Live a Life without Glasses – LASIK Surgery What is LASIK surgery? LASIK is short for Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis. It is the most common type of refractive surgery performed worldwide. A LASIK surgery is performed to restore correct vision in eyes suffering from near-sightedness or far-sightedness or even astigmatism. A LASIK surgery gives the opportunity to people with not-perfect eyesight to witness live without the frames of their glasses. How is LASIK Surgery performed? A LASIK surgery is performed by first creating a thin corneal flap. This corneal flap is then lifted and the eye is lasered. Lasering reshapes the cornea adjusting it according to the requirement. The cornea flap is then replaced and the eye heals itself without the need of stitches. The entire procedure is complete within a matter of minutes, and the cornea can from then on reflect and form images on the retina normally, without glasses assisting it. Even though they use the same principle in the surgery LASIK surgery can be said to be of two broad types: 1.Blade LASIK Surgery 2.Bladeless LASIK Surgery LASIK surgery is great for a person who is uncomfortable using glasses or contact lenses. Anyone who wants to break through the routine of having to constantly use glasses to see can decide to go for a LASIK Surgery. Performing the surgery will allow them to stop having to depend on their glasses or contact lenses and leave behind their numerous discomforts. The two types of Surgeries Blade eye surgeryor the traditional method uses a device called a ‘Microkeratome’ that uses a blade. This method is ideal for people needing only minor vision correction. On the other hand, the bladeless eye surgery uses a ‘Femtosecond’ laser to break the corneal cells apart and not cut them. This method allows mode wide range of vision corrections. The LASIK eye surgery procedure is quite safe with complications leading to loss of vision is almost unheard of. Yet the risk can’t be denied altogether, more so in theblade eye surgery with a small risk of distortion possible with the use of the blade. Nevertheless, the two procedures are equally effective in treating the eye.
