Leading the Way in Sustainable Waste Management: Rappahannock Regional Symposium Highlights

The Rappahannock Regional Solid Waste Management Board hosted its annual Recycling Symposium, "Teach Green... Go Green... Leading By Example," on August 3, 2010. Established in 1987 and serving Stafford and Fredericksburg, the board operates joint landfill and recycling centers, currently debt-free and self-sufficient. In 2009, they achieved a recycling rate of 45.4%, with a focus on single-stream recycling, household hazardous waste disposal, and community education.
