  2. ICG Glossary of GNSS Terms PURPOSE • Through this presentation, the United States provides to the members of the ICG a draft Glossary of GNSS Terms. • This action is in response to a request of the ICG Secretariat. • This Glossary, when complete and approved by the ICG, is to be made publicly available through the Programme on Space Applications1 administered by UNOOSA. • As this submission is a draft, it is expected that the U.S. will provide modifications to this Glossary before it becomes approved. • The Draft Glossary is attached to this presentation as a MicroSoft Word Document object2. 1 http://www.unoosa.org/oosa/en/SAP/centres/index.html 2

  3. ICG Glossary of GNSS Terms GENERAL COMMENTS • This Glossary, when approved by the ICG, is to be made available for support of a ICG developed GNSS Curriculum. • The development of the GNSS Curriculum is an agreed upon action of the ICG Plenary. • Development of the GNSS Curriculum will be addressed in another ICG-3 Working Group C presentation. • The GNSS Curriculum will be made available through the Programme of Space Applications administered by the UNOOSA. • The provided Draft Glossary does not, at this time, provide terms or definitions for any GNSS System except for that of U.S. GPS. • The U.S. does not presume that it can provide the full scope of terms or definitions applicable to other GNSS Provider systems. • However, the U.S. holds the position that the term GNSS be used in this Glossary where ever applicable rather than referring to a single, or group of, Provider system(s).

  4. ICG Glossary of GNSS Terms PROPOSED GLOSSARY WORKPLAN • The U.S. proposes: • That the ICG form an Ad-Hoc group to complete the GNSS Glossary with the following schedule: 1 April 2009: Final date for input of proposed additions and corrections of Glossary - all ICG Providers (Next ICG Experts Meeting): Review of the Glossary for submission to ICG-4 (ICG-4 Meeting): Plenary Review and Adoption of the GNSS Glossary. • A Rapporteur be selected for the purpose of coordinating the activities of the Ad-Hoc group and reporting these activities to the ICG.
