  1. Chiefs in Training (CIT)

  2. The CIT program was brought from the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) to NIOC Maryland in 2008 as a deckplate leadership continuum for First Class Petty Officers. The program is designed to train future Chiefs and provide the opportunity for First Class Petty Officers to network among themselves while incorporating leadership training, physical fitness, and command and community involvement. Chiefs in Training • Each team will complete a JQR, covering line items such as preparing an evaluation package, knowing the MCPON’s expectations of a PO1, and conducting Career Development Boards. Other required training includes participation in the Naval Professional Reading Development Program and fostering leadership skills in a team environment. The program will run for 8 weeks.

  4. CIT Structure • Teams will be comprised of Departments • Team break down: • 1 CPO team leader (Primary) • 1 CPO team leader (Secondary) ** Team leaders will submit a request to be a team leader**

CIT Structure • Group will be responsible for: • Naval Heritage Project • Educational Event • Fundraising Event • Community Service project • Conducting one weekly training event • All Team’s activities: • Weekly PT sessions (Departmental team building physical activity and all department formation runs)
