E N D
What is ADS selling ? Price ………………………………….Advanced polypropylene resin technology and an exclusive triple wall design (30"–60") provides/enhanced pipe stiffness, beam strength and joint integrity making HP sanitary the logical choice for your gravity flow sanitary sewer project. You'll recognize SaniTite HP pipe by its distinctive gray color. But more importantly than its color, is what it will do for you. If you are being asked to do more with less, then HP sanitary is your answer! Please contact your ADS representative to extend your large diameter sanitary sewer dollars.
Greater Pipe Stiffness • 30” claims of PS 105 • 36” claims of PS 90 • Independent Lab Testing Results • ADS will promote this in an attempt to get the specifyer to require PS 115 – PVC.
48” Flow Comparison for a mile of PVC vs. PP Pipe • 48” PVC “N”=.009 56,611,000 gallons per day • 48” SaniTite “N”=.012 42,458,000 gallons per day That’s a 25% reduction in flow PP Pipe must INCREASE THE DIAMETER to equal PVC flow
Six Projects Logan, Utah Yakima Racetrack Sewer Yakima High School Richland, WA Logston Utilities University of Idaho Laramie, Wyoming
Logan, Utah 500’ – 48” and 600’ – 42” Upon completion, water flowed down the line before any services were tied in. ADS told contractor he installed it wrong – even though a field engineer was present and signed off on every joint. ADS went in and sealed each joint internally, settled with all. Neither contractor, engineer nor city will answer any questions. City Engineer WILL tell people they saved $125,000 over my F679 PS 46.
Yakima Race Track Sewer 1200’ - 36” Failed Air Test Cause – “Bad Gaskets” Dug up and replaced ADS Paid Claim Project completion delayed 3 months Nobody will say a word
Yakima High School 800’ – 36” All shipped with Bad Gaskets Identified Prior to Installation Gaskets Replaced Prior to Installation Field people are now on site at all times ADS Engineer present at start up
Laramie, Wyoming 3000’ – 30” According to the Contractor: Manhole connections were difficult & expensive There were 3 leaky joints Difficult taps Entire sections floated out of the ditch. A large back-charge was submitted Laramie will never use it again
Richland, WA Logston Utilities 4,000’ – 30” Passed Air and TV Inspection (26’ deep with water at 6 feet) Contractor said the 5psi air test “stopped the leaks.” (hint: 5 psi can’t escape under equivalent or greater external pressure). Services were difficult –Insert-A-Tee finally worked Additional OD was an issue at Manholes Manhole connections were “crazy expensive” They will use again as it “saved them a boatload of money”
University of Idaho 4,000’ – 36” Had more bad gaskets to start which were replaced 2 joints failed but contractor crawled inside and sealed them Contractor said “it is nothing more than Beefed up N-12 – but the price differential makes it a necessity to learn how to use it”.
Distributor “Interaction”(Don’t get me started) • This is the wild card • Distributors do ZERO spec. work for ADS • BE - LOW – RULES supplier thought process • The supplier on the outside looking in, will run ADS in EVERY time. • ADS rewards this supplier assistance • ADS punishes supplier “lack of cooperation”
What can we do ? • Inform specifyer of differences in: • 1. Flow – N factors - (25% less is HUGE) • 2. 3% deflection limit • 3. Manhole connection issues. • 4. Joints can not be field cut • Diamond Profile Products eliminate SaniTite interest in projects. • Wear Johns shirt to call on distributors that assist ADS with PP Pipe.
What now ? • Will ADS continue the big push on SaniTite? Claim exposure has to be giving them pause. • 4 of 6 had problems (Most were 36” gaskets) • The last two projects went best – and districts will use it again – due to cost savings alone. • Flow, field cuts, manhole connections, taps and floating are universal issues on all installations. • Getting Diamonds profile wall products in the specification eliminates their interest. • Will ADS continue their scorched earth approach with SaniTite? My guess is yes but only where F679 is the only allowable pipe.
