  4. EYE CARE Features • Heavily Based upon RAD SWF • Scheduling for new Patients is almost always generic. Specific procedures determined upon examining the patient. • Scheduled • Unscheduled • Procedures performed on a variety of diagnostic and test equipment • Performed Procedures provide technical billing information.

  5. IHE Eye Care Integration Profile Charge Posting (CHG) • Charge Posting Integration Profile includes references to its definition in the Radiology Technical Framework with further eye care specific options describes the mechanism to collect and post timely billable claims related to Eye care procedural data.

  6. CHG Features • Heavily Based upon RAD CHG • Ophthalmology is highly coded and there are benefits seen from directly processing the performed procedure • Procedures performed on a variety of diagnostic and test equipment • Performed Procedures provide technical billing information.

  7. IHE Eye Integration ProfileEvidence Documents (ECED) • Eye Care Evidence Documents Integration Profile based upon the Evidence Documents (ED) definition in the Radiology Technical Framework with further eye care specific options, describes management of observations, measurements and peri-procedural results (i.e. evidence documents).

  8. ECED Features • Heavily Based upon RAD ED • Mechanism for recording data – observations, measurements and results. • Evidence documents are used as input to clinical reports. • Option to support specific Eye Care Image types • Option to support documents encapsulated pdfs • Requires Storage Commitment (Cardiology)

  9. IHE Eye Care Actors • Actors are extensively the same as Radiology • Patient registration may occur on a Practice Management System (PMS) or Hospital Information System (HIS) • Department Scheduler/Order Filler may be an Eye Care Electronic Health Record (EHR) • Other Actors include: Modalities, Charge Processor, Evidence Creator, Image Manager/Archive, Image Display, Order Placer, and Performed Procedure Step Manager .

  10. IHE Eye Care Transactions • Transactions are extensively the same as Radiology • Modality Images/Evidence Stored – Supports the ability to Store Eye Care specific Image/Evidence Document types (including option for pdfs). • Query Modality Worklist – Includes the requirement to support the “Issuer of Patient ID”. • Query Modality Worklist – Includes the requirement to support the “Issuer of Patient ID”.

  11. IHE Eye Care Transactions • Transactions are extensively the same as Radiology • Retrieve Images– Supports the ability to Store Eye Care specific Images and specific JPEG and compression syntaxes. • Query Evidence Documents – Includes the requirement to encapsulated Documents. • ay be an Eye Care Electronic Health Record (EHR) • Other Transactions include: Patient Registration, Placer Order Management, Filler Order Management, Procedure Scheduled, Modality Procedure Step In Progress, Modality Procedure Step Completed, Retrieve Evidence Documents, Patient Update, Procedure Update, Query Images, Charge Posted and Account Management.
