  2. This is Martin Luther King, Jr.

  3. When Martin was a little boy, black people could not be friends with white people.

  4. Black people and white people could not eat at the same restaurants.

  5. Black people and white people could not go to the same schools.

  6. This made Martin really sad!

  7. When Martin grew up, he became a minister.

  8. Martin had a dream!

  9. Martin worked hard to make his dream come true.

  10. He made speeches.

  11. He organized marches.

  12. He didn’t believe in fighting.

  13. He told people how to get along and live together peacefully.

  14. Martin worked to get laws changed so that black people and white people would be treated the same.

  15. Martin was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for all of his hard work.

  16. Someone shot and killed Martin in 1968.

  17. Every January we have a holiday to help us remember Martin and his dream. It is called “Martin Luther King Day”.
