  1. Introduction to SGH-A300 10-Jul.-2001 Presented by J.K. Kang & Yang

  2. Agenda • 1. Introduction to SGH-A300 • 2. General Specification of GSM/DCS • Handset • 3. Chipset Solution used in SGH-A300 • 4. Block Diagrams of SGH-A300 • 5. Power On Sequence • 6.Test Jig box • 7. Trouble Shooting

  3. 1. Introduction of SGH-A300 A. Features  Distinguished Design - Dual Window Folder  Easy Communication - IrDA  Excellent Business Companion Personal  Information Management Calendar / To Do List  Ring Customization / Melody Creation User Oriented Large Display & Navigation Key Map

  4. B. Specifications Weight 83g with Slim Battery  Dimensions(HxWxD) 81 x 42 x 22 mm  LCD Graphic LCD with variable fonts and animation  Battery Duration

  5. 2. General Specification of GSM/DCS Handset A. Frequency B. Receiver Reference Receiver Sensitivity Level : -102 dBm  Channel Width : 200 kHz  Required Receiver Noise Figure < 10.4 dB  Dynamic Range : -40 dBm ~ -110 dBm  Intermodulation : -102 + 3 = -99dBm (Interferer -49dBm ± 800 and 1600 kHz)

  6. C. Transmitter Power Class 4 &1 are used.

  7. 3. SGH-A300 Chipset Solution The Chipset for SGH-A300 CONEXANT Dual Band Chipset  M46 : Baseband Processor  IA : Integrated Analog  RF137 : Dualband Tranceiver  PMIC : Power Management IC  RF210 : LNA + Mixer  CX77301 : Power Amplifier Controller

  8. 4. Block diagram of SGH-A300

  9. 5. POWER ON SEQUENCE

  10. 5. POWER ON SEQUENCE II 1) Turn On Power Key or Insert the Test Cable to Interface connector. → PMIC(U401) detect Pwr_onoff(#45pin) or Ta_det(47) → M46(U201) detect Pwr_sns(U608 6pin). 2) PMIC Supply Vccd(U401 33,34pin(2.8V)) to M46(U201). Vosc(U401 28pin(2.8V)) to IA to oscillate Crystal(OSC101). Vcca1(U401 30pin(2.8V)) to IA. 3) IA generate 19.5MHz by Crystal(OSC101). 4) M46 put Clk-Rst on PMIC(U401 10pin), IA for requesting Clock(19.5MHz). 5) IA put 3.9MHz(19.5MHz/5) Clock on M46. 6) PMIC put POR(U401 11pin) on IA to alert IA. 7) IA put Reset_B(U501 2pin) on M46(U201), Flash Memory , LCD(CN603 2pin) Module. For normal Booting. 8) If SGH-A300 is not booting normally, M46 will put PMIC_Reset(U401 2pin) on PMIC.

  11. 5. POWER ON SEQUENCE III *Power On Squence Timing.

  12. 6. Test Jig box

  13. 7. Trouble Shooting • Power On Failure. • SIM Recognition Failure. • Battery Charging Failure. • Audio Failure ( Microphone, Speaker ) • Keypad Failure • Ring Indicator Failure • Back Light Failure • Alert Tone Failure • Call Failure ( DCS, GSM Rx and Tx part )
