Education@Rapid5D Contact: Barry C Symonds MSc FRICS FCIOB FBEng Rapid 5D has arranged for the issue of free Licenses for universities & qualifying students with all our solution vendors who we are working with. As part of our unique team Barry can provide links with R5B to enable Built Environment Departments & Schools with licences to enable students to use our product to support courses particularly in Quantity Surveying/Construction Economics, Construction/Commercial Management & Building Surveying & Property Management. Our software can provide academics with the ability to teach measurement, estimating, cost planning, construction & project management, and contract administration in an integrated fashion, that will equip students for the future. Biography Barry is the retired Head of Department for Property Surveying & Construction at London South Bank University. (Faculty of Engineering Science & the Built Environment). The Department has over 1000 students (60% postgraduate) involved in a wide variety of property & construction related programmes, serving London & International markets. Barry and his team, have strong connexions with European Institutions & in particular those in Germany (ie MBA International Immobilienmanagement) where Barry was recently elected to the Senate of the University of Applied Sciences, Biberach an derRiss, and a member of the Beirat at Nuertingen University of Applied Sciences, Baden-Wurttemberg. Barry worked in private practice as a quantity surveyor, both in the UK and overseas, for over 20 years beforeentering Academia (1982). He has held roles of course director in surveying courses and developed numerous undergraduate & post graduate programmes. He has travelled extensively overseas and carried out visiting lecturer & external examiner roles in Malaysia, Singapore, China, HK, UAE, Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah, Jamaica and New Zealand, where he worked for five years.In the UK his work with the RICS has included Chairmanship of the Essex Branch in the 1990s and a period of 3 Years on the QS Divisional Council. He is currently a member of the Worshipful Company of Constructors Education Committee, which supports apprenticeship schemes, research & scholarships.
