  4. Smart tag list of actions Figure 6-1 Smart tags help save time by performing actions in Word. The smart tag indicator is a purple dotted line.

  5. AutoCorrect dialog box AutoCorrect corrects the capitalization and spelling automatically after completing a word or pressing the space bar. Figure 6-2

  6. Controlling AutoCorrect options Figure 6-3 • Steps: • Move the I-beam anywhere into the autocorrect options button appears. • Click the button and choose undo to revert back to before the correction. • Or choose Control AutoCorrect Options.

  7. AutoCorrect Options • Correct Two Initial Capitals • Capitalize first letter of sentences • Capitalize first letter of table cells • Capitalize names of days • Correct accidental usage of Caps lock key • Replace text as you type

  8. Undoing automatic corrections Figure 6-4 • Steps do undo automatic corrections • Click anywhere in the phase or correction • The mouse becomes a pointer and the box turns into the AutoCorrect Options button. • Click the AutoCorrect Option button and click one of the pop up options.

  10. Create AutoText dialog box • Steps: • Select the text you want as AutoText. • Click on new from the AutoText toolbar • Give the AutoText a name • Click okay. Figure 6-6

  11. Inserting an AutoText entry Figure 6-7 • Steps: • Click All Entries from the AutoText toolbar. • Select Normal • Look for the required AutoText.

  12. Checking spelling • Three ways to check spelling use: • Spell check button from the Standard Toolbar • F7 on the keyboard • Tools from the Menu bar, Spelling & Grammar option Figure 6-8

  13. Using the Thesaurus • Bring up the Thesaurus by: • Shift + F7 • Tools from the Menu Bar and select language, then Thesaurus Figure 6-9

  14. Using the Find feature Ctrl + F Or Edit from the Menu Bar then select Find to bring up the Find and Replace Dialog Box Figure 6-10

  15. Using the Replace feature Ctrl + H or use the Edit , then Replace from the Menu Bar to bring up the Find and Replace Dialog Box. Figure 6-11

  18. Clipboard task pane • There are two types of clipboards: • Word Clipboard which stores one item at a time. • Office clipboard which stores 24 items at a time. Figure 6-14

  19. Pasting text Figure 6-15 Use the paste button from the standard toolbar, ctrl + V, shortcut menu (right mouse click) or the clipboard task pane for pasting.

  20. Using the shortcut menu to cut • Steps: • Select the text. • Click the right mouse button. • Select cut from the options. Figure 6-16

  21. Drag-and-drop pointer • Text is not transferred into the clipboard when the drag-and-drop method is use. • Steps: • Select Text. • Hold down the left mouse button and drag the insertion point to the desired location and release the button. Figure 6-17
