  1. Welcome Session 1

  2. Hoop Stability, Troubleshooting, Health & Safety Which Hoop Problems you will encounter Correct Way to Pick Hoop Up

  3. Which Hoop • There are many different types of hoops • Adults should use hoops from 36” upwards. We use 38” and 41” hoops. • Hoops should really • have gaffer tape on • them this helps them • to stick to clothes • better

  4. Weighted Hoops • Hoops should really NOT be any heavier than 800g as this can cause internal bruising • There are special toning hoops which are smaller than 38” and not to be used on the waist (we will show you in session 4)

  5. Children’s Hoops • Although I do have children’s hoops I very rarely use them – even with children as they too will hoop with 38” hoops from age 6 upwards

  6. Teachers Pack • We can supply teachers packs which are usually 15 x 38” hoops and 5 x 41” Hoops • Colour coded for sizing making it easier as an instructor to visually identify which size your delegates are using • Please email theteam@ukhooping.co.uk for a price list or details are under session 1 on moodle

  7. Before your First Class • It is advisable to stand in front of the hoops before a class so that delegates are not tempted to pick up hoops and do a “wii hoop” (games console moves – as per next side)

  8. Wii Games Console Move • Please sure to watch the video under session 1or via you tube below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4YvC-Ya874

  9. Show your class the deadlift technique • Demonstrate the deadlift technique so that all your class pick up the hoop correctly each time the hoop drops. View video under session 1 of moodle or via youtube below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Leohe02jGk8

  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXEnnPkMlb4 Video can be viewed under Session 1 on moodle

  11. On the previous slide can you see the lady at the front to the left has not been shown the deadlift technique and also really needs the instructor to come and help her with her moves • This is not a good demonstration of a hooping class

  12. 2nd point before giving delegates hoops • Show them how to do the hoop moves so they gain an understanding of using the abs and not their upper body and NO circles of the tummy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOI06nM-btw

  13. Class Set Up If space permits, the instructor is in the middle and delegates in a circle. This make demo’s and observing delegates assessable to all. When demoing moves I would show in at least 2 directions

  14. Standard Class Set Up It can make it difficult for the instructor to move between delegates to help a person with a move

  15. PAR Qs • It is advisable to use the UK Hooping PAR Q when teaching hooping as with the popularity of gastric bands and bypass operations, hooping should not be undertaken in under 9 months of a gastric operation. • UKHooping PAR Q’s are found under Session 1 for downloading

  16. And Lastly • Please make your delegates aware that after their first couple of hooping sessions they may experience bruising around the abs / hip area. This is quite normal as the body is not used to an object hitting it for over 40 minutes. • They will be proud of their hooping bruises and show all their family and friends

  17. You now have finished Session 1 • If you are unsure about any aspects of session 1 please email theteam@ukhooping.co.uk or make an appointment for a telephone/skype call 01763 274681 jacquismith30
