  7. MS. A. PAXTON-SANCHEZ WELCOME INTRODUCTIONS- NEW AP AND COUNSELOR GUIDELINE DISCUSSION INFORMATION PRESENTATION OF TONIGHT’S SESSIONS ADJOURNMENT TO ECHS FOR DEPARTMENT PRESENTATIONS PRINCIPAL’S ADDRESS

  8. GUIDELINE DISCUSSION • Students are required to attend all scheduled classes, support classes, and study halls everyday. Failure to do so is truancy. • Traditional classes: up to 8 min. Tardy • Block classes: up to 15 min. Tardy • Upperclassmen need to be in school the state mandated amount of time even if they are full time TSTC students. (4hours) • Section: 25.093 of the Texas Education Code, Parent Contributing to nonattendance • Section: 25.094 of the Texas Education Code, Failure to Attend School • Attendance is taken daily for Juniors and Seniors who are full time, in their support or study hall class. • Dress code must be followed: no flesh showing holes in jeans, skirts and dresses no higher than 3 inches above the knee, no hats worn in campus buildings, no facial piercings, facial hair must be cut, no excessive hair color that is distractive, no low cut blouses/shirts

Guideline Discussion-Staff • TSTC cafeteria is only available to Juniors and Seniors • Students are to watch for plagiarism • Please discuss homework completion and quality • Reading encouraged daily no less than 30 mins. • Breakfast club available daily 7:15-8:15 a.m. • After school tutorials available until 5:00 • Accuplacer: cost $5 per section tested Wed. after school. • Must be Accuplacer compliant by end of Soph. yr. • 8:00 TSTC classes • 4 min. passing time between classes • Fresh. & Soph. tissues and hand sanitizer to ELA or SS teacher by next Friday

(times are 10-12:30 and 12:00-2:30 We are also looking for the following donations: soft drinks, ice, ice chests. All money raised goes back to our student activities throughout the year and teacher educational needs. Senior funds will go directly to their EOY trip. • Beach clean up Sept 24th • Robotics club every Sat with competition on Oct. 29th. • School basketball game B&G club • PSAT Oct 12th. Pesina • SAT/ACT registration underway see Pesina • District wide conference Nov. 5th • Talent Show Nov. 25th • Volunteer hour opportunities are listed on our announcement board at ECHS

  11. Information cont… • TSTC registration for our students is just as it is for all college students. Never guaranteed. Please make sure your student follows up on their registration procedures: Reg. permit. Accuplacer score cleared, courses make, times are not conflicting, all registration paperwork in to Dual enrollment and admissions. • Getting bumped from a class or having a class cancel can drastically change a student’s graduation plan. • Parent Access Center Letter for Parents- Pesina • New spring schedule structure to accommodate the EOC and TAKS assessments will be taking place. • Volunteer hour opportunities coming up in December and May at local elementary schools. • Looking for career day speakers and presenters.   12. Significant Legislation to go in effect sp/12. Recent state legislation now requires that TSTC Harlingen receive Bacteria Meningitis vaccination records for all new sp/2012 students or for those students who have a break in enrollment for a semester. TSTC update….

MORTON RM 103 THEN (102, 104, SL1) SOPHOMORES WILL BEGIN WITH SOCIAL STUDIES GUIDED BY: MRS. FISHER 102 THEN (104, SL1, 103) JUNIORS WILL BEGIN WITH MATHEMATICS GUIDED BY: MR. KLEIN 104 THEN (SL1, 103, 102) SENIORS WILL MEET IN THE COMMUNITY CENTER GUIDED BY: MS. PESINA ( 20 MIN. PRESENTATION-SENIOR PARENT NIGHT OCT 6TH) DEPARTMENT SESSIONS WILL LAST 10 MINUTES. FOR PERSONAL QUESTIONS PLEASE ARRANGE A MEETING WITH YOUR STUDENT’S TEACHER. ELECTIVES: SPANISH WILL BE WITH ELA AND PE WILL BE WITH MATHEMATICS TONIGHT’S SESSIONS
