  2. Participle A participle is a verbal that is used as an adjective.

  3. Present Participles Present participles are formed by adding –ing to the plain form of the verb. Example: The laughingLombard annoyed Detective Blore.

  4. Past Participles Past participlesare formed by adding either –ed, -d-, -t, -en, or –n to the plain form of the verb. Others may be formed as irregular verbs. The once confused studentswere beginning to understand verbals.

  5. The changing times of the 1960s act as the background for That Was Then, This Is Now.

  6. Underline the participle in the following sentences and identify if it is past or present: Bryon and Mark are experienced hustlers.
