  1. No Resurrection? “Now if Christ is preached that he hath been raised from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither hath Christ been raised: and if Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, your faith also is vain. Yea, we are found false witnesses of God; because we witnessed of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, neither hath Christ been raised: and if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable” – 1 Corinthians 15:12-19

  2. Do you believe in a resurrection? • Abraham believed in the possibility of a resurrection (Rom. 4:21; Heb. 11:17-19) • Many in Bible times and today lack the faith of Abraham (Acts 17:32; 23:8; 26:8) • Resurrection is a basic teaching (Heb. 6:2) • Paul argued for a resurrection (1 Cor. 15)

  3. If There Is No Resurrection… • Jesus was not raised • Preaching is vain • Believing is vain • Apostles are liars • No forgiveness of sins • Dead Christians are just dead • Living Christians have no hope

  4. Is There A Resurrection? Evidences from the First Gospel Sermon • Testimony of prophecy (Acts 2:25-31) • Testimony of the Apostles (Acts 2:32) • Honesty [character, motives] (1 Cor. 4:9-13) • Competency [opportunity, observation] (1 Jn. 1:1-3) • Number [two or more?] (1 Cor. 15:5-9) • Testimony of the H.S. (Acts 2:33)

  5. Since There Is A Resurrection… • Jesus was raised (Rom. 1:4) • Preaching is essential (Acts 4:2; 17:18) • Believing is essential (Rom. 10:9; 1 Pet. 1:21) • Apostles are true witnesses (Acts 1:22; 3:15; 4:33) • Forgiveness of sins (Rom. 4:25; 1 Pet. 3:21) • Dead Christians are living (1 Thess. 4:13-18) • Living Christians have hope (1 Pet. 1:3)

  6. You and the Resurrection • Life continues on after death (Isa. 22:13; 1 Cor. 15:32; Lk. 12:19) • Life has meaning and purpose (1 Cor. 15:58; 1 Thess. 1:10) • The judgment day is just as sure as the resurrection (Jn. 5:28-29; Acts 24:15; Heb. 9:27) • Are you ready for that day to come?
