5. OER Observations • Students like Free materials/Savings idea • But not necessarily no textbook concept • Accessing the materials in various devices • Access 24/7 without carrying text books • Full Classes - Initially Observations, Challenges, and Successes OER

OER Challenges Access requires a Device May necessitate Data Plan upgrade May require Broadband service at home Reading pages of Electronic Information Free Campus Access but Inconvenient Ability to read - Require Placement, Pre/Co requisites (Florida DE, 2011) Observations, Challenges, and Successes OER

OER Successes Full Classes/enrollment Happy students based on initial surveys Course materials based on Topics, not Chapters Most Current Information and Course Materials Easier/Better engagement with students and incorporation of current events 5-10% increase in overall student success – grades and passing Observations, Challenges, and Successes OER
