Synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial activity of new quinazolin4(3H)-one schiff base derivatives

As a part of systematic investigation of synthesis, characterization and biological activity of several new 2-[(5- substituted amino-1H-indol-1-yl) methyl] quinazolin-4(3H)-one derivatives (7a-h) have been synthesized by series of reactions such as modified Niementowski synthesis, condensation, reduction and derivatization of amino quinazolinone ring system into schiff bases by aromatic aldehydes. The new synthesized compounds were characterized using IR, 1H NMR and Mass spectroscopy together with elemental analysis. All the synthesized products were evaluated for their antibacterial activity against E. Coli MTCC 443, P. Aeruginosa MTCC 1688, S. Aureus MTCC 96 and S. Pyogenus MTCC 442 and antifungal activity against A. Niger MTCC 282. Most of the synthesized compounds exhibited significant anti-bacterial activities.

Synthesis of novel 1,2,3,5-tetrahydropyrrolo[2,1-b]quinazoline-5-one analogs by using lithiation-intramolecular electrop

An efficient synthesis of the 4(3H)-quinazolinone-based alkaloids , 1,2,3,5-tetrahydropyrrolo[2,1-b]quinazoline-5- one has been achieved in good overall yields by using the strategy of regioselective lithiation-intramolecular electrophilic reaction as a key–step. Both the molecules have been synthesized in just two-steps from readily available starting materials. Several synthetic analogs of natural product 1,2,3,5-tetrahydropyrrolo[2,1- b]quinazoline-5-one , an alkaloid containing quinazolinone moiety are being reported in this communication. Novel synthetic method for the synthesis of 1,2,3,5-tetrahydropyrrolo[2,1-b]quinazoline-5-one analogs are reported. Final products were supported by FTIR , 1H NMR , 13C NMR and Mass spectroscopic measurements and possess moderate to good antifungal and antibacterial activities.
