The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is an initiative undertaken by the Indian Government to provide housing to all the home seekers by 2022. The mission is estimated to be achieved by 2022 u2013 a year when India completes 75 years of its independence. It was launched by MoHUPA (Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation) in June 2015 to meet the housing needs of EWS (economically weaker section), mid-income group, and low-income group (LIG).
