Why Word of Mouth and Websites Are the Power Couple of Marketing
When you want to find out what people have to say about a certain business, you’d go online and search for reviews. However, back in the day, reviews and feedback were all done via word of mouth. If you wanted to get a haircut at a certain beauty parlor, but didn’t know how much it cost, you’d call up a friend who’s had a haircut there. If you wanted to know if a restaurant’s food was any good, you’d ask a co-worker who’s eaten there. You might have heard your mom ranting about how a certain grocery store sold spoiled goods, then you suddenly decide to never set foot there when you do your groceries. Before the existence of websites and social media, word of mouth was the thing! The question that now stands though is, in this digital age, does word of mouth still have a place in reputation building for businesses?
