The appearance of medically supervised diets arose when people with serious health issues, such as heart problems, diabetes, hypertension as well as obesity and so forth, started some of the radically unhealthy diets that seem to abound. This often created a worsening of their medical condition, and so supervised diets were invented. However, even these are not all healthy.
