  2. Kindergarten Registration Child turning 5 on or before September 1, 2014 Register at the school your child is zoned for School locator http://locator.browardschools.com/edulog/school-locator/ or call 754.321.2380 Mckay Scholarship/ ese

  3. What do I Need to Register? Bring the original of your child’s birth certificate 2 Proofs of current address Updated medical forms Completed registration packet Registration packets for Kindergarten will be accepted starting on May 1st.

  4. Kindergarten Round-Up Kindergarten round-up will be on May 19th at Broadview Elementary 8:30- 9:30 am Check with your child’s home school for dates of their kindergarten round- up Please bring a form of Identification such as a license with you to sign in at the office.

Changes from Preschool To Kindergarten No Nap Time Independence in cafeteria Arrival at school: only accompany children first 2 days of school May use car line for Arrival and Dismissal Nightly Homework Tardiness and Absences count! School instruction begins promptly at 8 and ends at 2. Car riders that are not picked up on time will be sent to wait in office. Walkers will be dismissed from school to walk home on their own. Walkers will be picked up at the gate on the west side of school. Breakfast independently between 7:15-7:45

Good Communication is the Key to a Successful Year! • Let your child’s teacher know about: • Medical concerns • Allergies • Dismissal Information • Phone number or address changes • Any major changes at home that may impact your child’s behavior or academics (i.e. a new baby, move to a new home, divorce)

How to Help Your Child Have a Successful Year Supplies ready at home to complete homework- glue, pencil, scissors, crayons, etc. Read to your child nightly Send your child to school prepared with what they need and on time, check through their backpacks nightly when they come home. Praise your child’s accomplishments Send in the requested school supplies in a timely manner Maintain routines Open communication with teacher Register to become a school volunteer

How to Help Your Child Over the Summer Practice letter recognition and reading skills Read to your child daily- asking them questions about the book Continue to practice counting and identifying numbers Practice writing their name daily Keep the conversation going, help them to build their vocabulary, share their thoughts Summer VPK; appointments available online. Times and days vary with location.
