  3. 2012-13 Choral Department • 4courses • Elite Women • Adv. Mixed • Concert Choir • Men’s Choir • Nearly 130 total students • ‘Mixed Group’ = ScholaCantorum

The Master Plan • Develop correct & age appropriate vocal technique for the students • Develop and enhance musical skills in notation and sight singing • Recognize musical elements and demonstrate expressive qualities in varying styles of choral music as well as acquire the knowledge of its connection to history, culture, and other arts.

  7. Fall Concert • Opera 101 • Each choir is learning multiple opera choruses appropriate to their voices • Concert will likely include opportunities for solos and instrumentalists • Working in co-ordination with Atlanta Opera to arrange an on-site workshop

  8. Dinner Theatre • November 21st at ET Booth Cafetorium • ‘Not Another Teen Musical’ • Auditions held early September – efforts made not to conflict with students participating in One-Act • Event will be catered by local company • Students ‘actors’ will be needed as servers also

  9. Holiday Concert • First chance to combine with EHS Band Department • Held in EHS Gymnasium • Premier of combined band/chorus EHS Alma Mater

  10. LGPE Concerts • Large Group Performance Evaluation • Travel out of district to compete/sing with Cobb County schools • Take four groups Women, Elite, ScholaCantorum, and Men’s Choir • Possible performance the following week of LGPE songs in a combined concert with LSU as well as other top Georgia High Schools including Milton and Kennesaw Mountain

  12. Spring Concert • To be held at Hillside UMC • ‘Evolution of Music’ – to include a logical progression of music (choral, small groups, and solo) from Gregorian Chant through music not yet written. • “Prism” style performance

Honor Choir

Fundraising • Fall Fundraiser – • Starting today – ends September 9th • Honduran Joe Coffee • First 5products go towards EHS Chorus if chorus fee not paid; all subsequent sales go in an 80/20 split towards a trip voucher for the student to be used this school year • Parent Volunteers Needed on Delivery Day!

  24. Trip SY 2013-14 • Combined Cherokee County Choir in Italy!!! • Final registration and payments current by Sep 13th • Florence, Spoletto, Rome

Trip SY 2013-14 • Evening Concert at the Basilica di San Benedetto in Norcia (Spoleto region) Link • Basilica of St. Frances (Assisi) Link • We will be given the opportunity to perform a few compositions at the end of our tour of the Basilica. • Evening Concert partnered with the Corale Puccini in Camigliano (birthplace of Puccini) Link • Concert in Florence, most probably Dante’s Church in the historical center of Florence • Service Participation with short Concert following, St. Paul’s Within the Walls, Rome Link
