  5. Resident Camp • Available at Hawthorne, Singing Hills, Conshatawba, Redwing, Yough • Girls come independently or with a friend • Camp staff provides all supervision • Bussing is available

  6. CORE Camp • Girls attend with Troop Leaders who supervise girls • All meals and activities are included • All adults must be approved volunteers • Camps include Skymeadow, Singing Hills, Roy Weller, Hawthorne Ridge, Conshtawba, Redwing

  7. Family Programs • Attend girls attend with family members and register independently • Me and My Gal and Me and My Guy available at most camps • Conshatawba hosting adventure family camps • Curry Creek hosting 4th of July Celebration Weekend.

Summer Troop Camping New This year at Singing Hills, Elliott, Curry Creek and Conshatawba is an opportunity for troops to do their own thing while still having access to certification necessary areas of camp like swimming and archery. It will be a per person rate depending on location and will cover lodging and activities offered, the troop will be responsible for other activities and meals. EXAMPLE • Summer Troop Camping at Curry Creek – Mohawk Tent Unit and Seneca Tent Unit Bring your troop to Camp Curry Creek this summer to work on badges, get started on a leadership journey or simply strengthen the bonds of sisterhood while getting to jump in the pool, take aim at a target or paddle on the pond. Troops must provide their own first aid/CPR certified and tent/yurt outdoor trained adults. Fee includes two hours in the pool, two hours of canoe instruction and either archery (Brownies or older) or rifles (must be 12 years old to shoot rifles). Troops are responsible for their own meals. Lodging is provided in the Mohawk and Seneca Tent Unit. Girls Grades: K-12 Session 1: June 14-16, Fri.-Sun. (2 nights) Session 2: June 21-23, Fri.-Sun. (2 nights) Session 3: June 28-30, Fri.-Sun. (2 nights) Session 4: Aug. 2-4, Fri.-Sun. (2 nights) 2013 Cost: $40 per person 2012 Cost: $40 per person Minimum Capacity: 10

  9. Busing For Summer 2013 • Bus transportation is available for select resident camp programs. • Look for the bus icon to identify which camp sessions have a transportation option in the 2013 Camp S’MORE. • Cost will be $50 (Roundtrip); $35 (One-way)

  10. Programs Girls Grades: K-12 and families Snow Tubing at Nemacolin Resort Bring yourself, your troop or your family for a fun afternoon at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort’s 800 foot tubing park. You'll get to spend 2 hours swooshing down the hill in their specially designed tubes and then ride back up and do it all over again. When you're done, you can come in out of the cold and join us for pizza and hot chocolate. This is our 2nd year of what we hope to become an annual GSWPA winter time tradition. See you there! Girls Grades: K-12 and families Date/Time: Sunday, Feb. 24, 2-5:30 p.m. Location: Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, 1001 LaFayette Dr., Farmington, Pa 15437 – Fayette County Cost: $25 per person Minimum Capacity: 30 Registration Deadline: Feb. 20 Girls Grades: K-5 All About Science Join us at Saint Vincent College’s newly renovated Sis and Herman Dupre Science Pavilion for a day of fun and exploration. Girls will participate in small science experiments, watch exciting chemistry demonstrations, enjoy a show in the planetarium, tour the campus and much more. All participants will be provided with a bag lunch. Registered girls will receive a fun patch. Girl Grades: K-5 Date/Time: Saturday, March 16, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Location: St. Vincent College – Sis and Herman Dupre Science Pavilion, 300 Fraser Purchase Rd., Latrobe, PA 15650—Westmoreland County Cost: $12 per girl/$5 per adult Minimum Capacity: 15 Registration Deadline: March 9

  11. Highlighted Program Cont. Girls Grades: 4-5 Junior Troop Adventure – Dog Sledding Take your Junior Troop on a dog sledding adventure! Your troop will not only feel the thrill of a working-dog ride, but also enjoy a personal, informative and fun visit with the dogs in their home environment; get "hands on experience;" learn about the equipment and see a film while earning the Dog Sledding Badge developed by the Alaska GS Council. Fee includes Saturday night snack, Sunday breakfast and pizza lunch. All participants will receive the Husky-Powered Dog Sledding Patch and girls will receive the Dog Sledding Badge at program completion. Girl Grades: 4-5 Date/Time: March 23-24, Sat. 7 p.m.-Sun. 3 p.m. Location: Camp Roy Weller, 32 Trillium Ln., Bruceton Mills, WV 26525—Preston County, WV Cost: $80 per girl/$60 per adult Minimum Capacity: 10 Registration Deadline: March 8

Girls and Women in SportsMercyhurst University’s 2nd annual Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration is an opportunity for Girl Scouts to interact with female athletes from over 12 teams at MU, including unique sports such as field hockey, water polo, and rowing! Girls will get to pass a volleyball, shoot a hockey puck, bounce a tennis ball, throw a softball, row 100 meters, or participate in other activities with Mercyhurst athletes throughout the event and then cheer on the Lakers as the women take on the Cal-U Vulcans in basketball at 1pm. A fun patch, free giveaways, campus tours, halftime events, and complimentary pizza rounds out the day as girls are exposed to sports at the collegiate level and celebrate with Mercyhurst during the year of the University! • Girl Grades:K-8Location: Mercyhurst College, Mercyhurst REC Gym, 501 E. 38th St., Erie PA 16417 — Erie CountyDate/Time: Sat. Feb. 2, 11:30 am - 3 pmCost: $3 per girl/no adult feeMinimum Capacity: 12  Registration Deadline: January 23 P-I-T-T Let’s Go Pitt! Join the University of Pittsburgh’s Kappa Delta Sorority on a campus tour, led by an official Pitt Pathfinder. The tour will be followed by breakout session, giving the girls the opportunity to meet and speak to college students studying business, health sciences, social sciences, foreign language and political science. Girls will learn about the various classes students take and what careers those classes support. Also, girls will meet with Pitt representatives from the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, as well as learn about extracurricular activities they can become involved in. Participating girls will receive a snack and Kappa Delta Patch. Girls Grades: 9-12 Date/Time: Sunday, Feb. 3, 1-3 p.m. Location: University of Pittsburgh, William Pitt Union, 4200 Fifth Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213 — Allegheny County Cost: $6 per girl/$2 per adult Minimum Capacity: 12  Registration Deadline: Jan. 23

Spring Work Weekend • May 3-5, 2013 • Registration will be available mid February • Each camp will have a work weekend • Troops of all ages and sizes are needed • Volunteers are needed for help in cooking, programming and leading small groups All Programs mentioned are in the current S’MORE or on the website

  15. Program Kits • Program kits are available to be borrowed for several of our most popular programs. Once you receive the kit, you will be able to gather your group, choose a date and time that suites your needs and run the program yourself. • Kit’s available are: • Ms. President • Bubbleology • Bow Wow’s and Meows • Underground Railroad • Win Win

  16. Programs By Request Programs can be chosen from the list or you can work with council staff to design a program that meets your unique or specific needs. To register for a program by request, follow the instructions on page 42. To create your own unique program, programsbyrequest@gswpa.org or call 800-248-3355 ext 1007.   17. Program Teams • Have a special skill and want to share it? Join a Program Team! • Program Teams are groups of people county/regionally based who work with a member of council to create and run programs/camps. • Be trained in event management for GSWPA • Learn to evaluate and adapt program to girl needs • Participants need to be 14+ years old • Meetings will be scheduled every other month starting in January 2013 • Contact gpennline@gswpa.org or 800-248-3355 x1007 to inquire and be directed to the most appropriate Camp/ Program Manager.

Service Unit CORE Camp • Allow a council Camp Pathway Manager to plan and coordinate with your SU camp committee all aspects of you SU camp. • Have options of activities, all instructors, food, health care, and facilities taken care of for you by camp staff. • Customized and created from your input and with your theme in mind.
