  1. Demo on PAPER MARBLING For class ix -x BY RIMSY CHOPRAK.V.PUSHP VIHARDELHI

  2. WHAT IS MARBLING • Marbling is a technique that transforms plain paper into colorful sheets that can be used in card making, scrapbooking or decrative projects. • Marble painting turns out different every time depending on which and how many colors you use, how much you mix them and even the texture of the paper you use

  3. Material required • Oil paints/ emulsion paint • Heavy paper • Tub for water • Stirrer • Toothpicks • A lot of old newspapers • Water Shallow tray (or a baking tray wrapped in foil) • Little cups ( disposable plastic muffin trays lined with paper cupcake liners) Small paintbrushes • Thin stick ( bamboo skewers) • Solvent for oil paints (for washing and diluting) • Paper that is smaller than the tray (we used A4 /letter size sheets)

  4. PROCESS OF MARBLING

  5. The marbling process is simple in theory, but extremely challenging to execute . First, each paint color is mixed with a drop or two of water in a container. The colors are added drop by drop to the surface of the water, then “stirred” by dragging a comb , toothpic or a stick.

  6. Once the colors have been stirred, a variety of combs and rakes can be dragged through the paint in straight lines, wave patterns, or figure-eights, resulting in an amazing complexity of patterns.   When the pattern is ready, a sheet of paper is gently floated on the surface of the water.

  7. The paper is then carefully lifted, placed in a second tray, and rinsed with cool water to remove the excess sizing before being laid out on a rack or hung to dry.

  8. MARBLE PAINTING Mix play and art by using marbles to paint unique abstract prints.

  9. MATERIAL REQUIRED • Sheet • Cylindrical container • Marbles • Colours • Brushes • Cloth rags or news paper

  10. PROCESS • Cut sketch paper to fit inside the bottom of your box. If you are using canisters, cut paper and roll it inside the canister.

  11. Add some water to poster paint, making sure the paints don't get too watered down. • Dip 2 to 3 marbles (or ping pong balls) in one color. Use a spoon to move each marble or ping pong ball around the paint. The balls should be thoroughly coated with paint.

  12. Scoop out the marbles and drop them into the canister or box. Cover the canister or box and start shaking.

  13. Remove the cover and take out the marbles. • Repeat this process using one color at a time. • When you're finished, check out your artwork. The marbles made spectacular abstract prints on paper!
