Ireland’s population is at 5,981,448 people as of 2008. Location is in Western Europe. Ireland’s native nick name is Erie

Economy card • Currency :The republic uses the euro like most of Europe • Major industries: “steel, lead, zinc, silver, aluminum, barite, and gypsum mining processing; food products, brewing, textiles, clothing; chemicals, pharmaceuticals; machinery, rail transportation equipment; glass and crystal; software, tourism “(The World Fact book online) • Misc: farming is the most important industry in Ireland

Government of Ireland • Flag: at the bottom of the page is the flag. • Type of govt. :republic • Head of govt.: the current head of the republic is Mary McAleese whom took office on November tenth 1997 • Misc: Ireland declared independence on December sixth 1921 and their constitution was signed on December • 29th 1937

  5. Tourist • Sites of interest: The main Castel of O'Flaherty, parliament building, The Blarney Stone, and so many more. • Travel options: to get to the island you need to fly or go by boat. When you are land you can drive, walk or bike, or there is also rail. • Festivals/holidays: harvest day in fall November eve, St.Patricks day, Christmas, Easter.

Culture • Food: the main food is stew, soda bread, corn beef, and there are many uncommon types of food. • Religion mostly catholic and protestant. • Major language: the major language is Irish. • Recreation: golfing, fishing, horse riding, and many things we do. • Clothing: is almost the same style as America

  7. How Ireland became a Republic: The Anglo-Irish Treaty was ratified by the Dali, in January 1922 by a vote of 64 - 57. The minority refused to accept the result and this resulted in an Irish civil war, which lasted until 1923.
